Yes, I was a huge football fan (Actual football, "Soccer" UGH) till I became a Communist. I still enjoy the sport but from another perspective

Capitalism has completely ruined football, absolutely, 100%. Teams are just companies, brands, selling their shit, with CEOs and Marketing Departments, completely devoid of what used to make them actual clubs, were people would hang out and engage in other activities other than football (like basketball, tennis, social, you name it). There's so much corruption, so much money thrown around when we're in the middle of the worst fucking crisis we've ever seen, it's just too fucking insane.

Another thing that has ruined it is the football culture itself, particularly our culture (Argentina, so yeah). People here are absolutely lunatics when it comes to football, people have DIED watching fucking football, yes, people have been KILLED for wearing another team's shirt. The patriarchal culture in football is also insane, threatening other fans to rape them, to kill them, "We just fucked them in the ass" they say after their shitty team won 1-0 in a irrelevant game. Racism? Oh god, don't even get me started.

After gaining an ideology, after seeing people insult and kill each other for NON MATERIAL THINGS, after seeing the disaster Capitalism has made on football... I can't take it anymore. I just can't. I need to shut my brain down in order to see a match, try to ignore these small (big) details that make professional (and commercial) football just shit. Pure shit.

COVID has shown me that Football isn't important, like it all, we havne't had matches for months now and I don't even miss them. I remember I used to listen to a radio program about two years ago, a caller was asked "Which team are you a fan of?" And he said "Well, Football is the most important thing of the least important things that exist". True.
