90% of the population could drop dead overnight and I’d still have to go to work and be put down for masking because “it makes the general public uncomfortable”

Biden does racist pandering by "sealing the border with Mexico" months before Bird Flu takes off in Burgerland.

Mexico is spared the worst of the horrors.

Trump calls the Bird Flu, The Biden Flu.

I'm sure it's fine. We learned a lot from the pandemic and people are more than willing to do anything Biden tells them to do!

From one of the wastewater guys I've been following, pigs are the big one we need to watch out for. But it does seem inevitable at this point.

Lol, I'm mostly right there with ya.

8 months ago I was expecting BA.2.86 to pick up S:456L to evade Class 1 antibodies, but it picked up S:455S instead to become JN.1.

Turns out my prediction was just premature.

Pretty sure this isn't a good thing tho.😅

It's okay because we have a vaccine we'll make freely and widely available before disaster strikes, right? anakin-padme-2

It's ok because Americans trust in vaccines is higher than ever after a monumentally successful campaign against COVID-19, right?

trust me if this thing is even a fraction as bad as it potentially can be im quitting immediately. i guess they could have the national guard drag me there or something but i don't think there's even the state capacity for that anymore

yeah you're right on the money for that one girl. if anything they'll just fill your position with some poor shithead in the national guard.

lol sort of related but: i remember back during early Covid we were hoping each department would get assigned a few young guardsman to help us do our shit work because of the overwhelming volume.

our shelves were bare and i had food from restaurants i had to process and pack for sale without the proper facilities. didn't have the workforce to feed people even working 60+ hr 7 day weeks.

this was during the early few weeks of "the entire state is going to mobilize for war against covid" and everyone, regardless of politics, were getting ready for a big collective action

always thought it was funny how quickly mechanisms activated to destroy that faint consciousness

early covid was surreal. for me, my spot quickly closed down (like april 2020 we shuttered for good) so i just sat at home on my lil computer screen collecting berniebux watching everything unfold. i reentered the workforce sometime late in 2022 after most shit had popped off. idk how the fuck i would've coped with being employed during all of that.

Just bought my reusable P100 today. Time for a Costco run to buy some of those giant bags of rice and beans.

Yeah it isn't really a "if it's gonna happen" question but a "when is it gonna happen" with avian flu, anyway time to buy more rice and beans.

Yup, and "How bad is it gonna be?". I don't fully buy a 50% lethality, but with covid only being 2%... there's still a lot of room for it to be very bad.

Anything between 5% and 10% would be utterly devastating for the world and would collapse the medical system completely (my ass would be running from my workplace in a nanosecond the minute bird flu goes full force) alongside the general infrastructure

America's plan for ongoing world domination is to fling plague-infected corpses (plague-infected tourists) over the city walls (over its own border walls) by catapult (via airplane, the closest thing to public transit acceptable to the AmeriBurger)

There was a sale for certified IFAKS last week (trauma based, but not basic stuff like bandages and ibuprofen). I would’ve posted it here but wasn’t sure if it was considered shilling.

But if you don’t expect to be in a situation where you’re shot or profusely bleeding, it’s usually cheaper to plan out your kit manually and purchase them separately (and even if you do prepare for bleeding/penetration, it’s usually cheaper to buy things individually if you don’t need every piece of equipment)

It can be cringe, but I would follow the subs like r/gundeals and r/tacticalmedicine. They regularly post deals for medical kits certified by Stop The Bleed. Ignore the names, while the stuff may be “tactical”, the sites they post have gear for other medical purposes as well.

However, if you REALLY are scraping by, I would take a look at the Chinese medical kit provider Rhino Rescue. It’s been spotted being used by Ukrainians and Russians. I don’t know if China regulates or certifies stuff like this, but quality control can be spotty. The reviews on AliExpress say they’re good, Americans who swear by NAR/STB say they’re trash. But having subpar medical preparedness is better than having no medical preparedness. You can get them from amazon but Ali might be a bit cheaper.

Time to dust off the old plague doctor outfit and stock up on tinctures and salves.
