This is... kinda brilliant and would probably be the only way I want him to approach the presidency again.
Trump redefined the Republican platform because he was perceived as for average working class Americans (within the chud framing). Bernie stealing the thunder by being a lightning rod for Republican union workers is... an avenue for at least some positive changes.
Him changing the cultural politics of the party by just raw material conditions would be :chefs-kiss:. Imagine the total meltdown capitalists would have if he by some miracle got the nom inside the Republican party. The Democrats would be scrambling to crush any leftism inside their party and shore up conservative voters. It wouldn't be enough. The Democrats would have to go mask off, and still lose.
If Bernie ever got the nom under any circumstance I would assume he would win. But even if he did, his problem would be inside coup attempts and assassination. In the end though, he just was never mean enough, or driven enough to do anything ballsy like running as a Republican. Let alone using his position to seize power for the left. He would have to essentially kill his rivals once in power and he wouldn't do it.
Bernie should run as a republican.
I cannot in good conscience support anything that hurts working people.I cannot in good conscience support anything that hurts billionaire people.

Yeah, he wouldn't stand a chance, but the opportunities to agitate would be immense. Fox News wouldn't be able to resist.
