Completely agree. The last DSA meeting I went to in person so many new members said they were there after Oliver made them realize how many legit issues there are that the Dems never touch. The trailer park episode alone radicalized many of my closest comrades.

Eh you’re given people too little credit. At least for my chapter most people are taking a critical look at all news about China. It’s mostly “camps like this suck but there’s too little info to take the Claims of deaths As accurate and the US has done worse. Let’s wait for more viable data.“
She did act as a figurehead for "what women can achieve" by reaching the very top of her chosen profession in a very public way.
It's a shame that said profession is shitty and corrupt and inherently damaging to the fabric of a good society, especially in the USA where the entire basis of the profession is an ancient document written by slave owners, but y'know.
I'm aware it's full cheese to say it, but there is some inherent value in "someone for girls to look up to and know that they can follow their dreams" - because there genuinely isn't very much of that in western society.
