That north east section of the US has strategic value for several reasons. It has more left voting gun owners than right voting gun owners which is a start. You can cut the north east of the US off and make it a new country. It's strategically in the right place for the coming years of climate change.
These three factors combined make it, in my opinion, the starting point for actually creating any region that doesn't suck. Turn Vermont/Massachusetts/New Hampshire/Maine into a place, grab Conneticut and Rhode Island too if possible.
The fact Vermont is literally the only place where more gun owners vote dem than republican makes it the most viable place to actually survive, the climate positioning and peninsula up in the corner of the US are just a bonus.
This all really depends on Canada too. Who knows how they'd react to that shit going on just over their border... Or whether they'd try a landgrab for "securing peace" in the ensuing chaos, perhaps with foreign support.
If balkanisation of the US actually happens it'll be a multi-country proxy war with global involvement. The world also isn't going to sit around with all those nukes at risk.
Agreed. New Enlgand is where you want to be. There's also this strange thing in rural areas that people, regardless of their ideology and identity, tend to take care of one another. It's like every conservative with a non-cis-het-white neighbor/friend just believes that they only know "the good ones".
It's when you are an outsider of minority identity that things get rough.
You'd look in that direction after securing up into the corner I think. You need to secure the space behind and up there beforehand in order to prevent the requirement to defend on multiple sides. NYC would obviously be a target of value to acquire but I think it'll be an absolute hot-mess in the fallout of something like this as supplies, food and everything they need is presumably shipped in? I suspect food and water there will run out quick if things destabilise. You also probably wouldn't want to "conquer" it with force, they'd have to WANT to join because otherwise street to street fighting in a place like that would just be an endless hell that lasts years.
Inside the US? Vermont.

Please, as a survivor of the ocean state, I beg you not to take a Rhode island with you, but rather use it as a nuclear testing site.

Could work.

Flee to Portland, ME.
Adding NYC to that is a sure way to create military conflict. And southern New England will lose.
Oh god whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy my old roommate was from Portland ME. Now he works for a defense think tank
