Avian flu is gonna be wild. It's gonna be like The Stand where there's just gonna be bodies in the streets because they couldn't get time off work because the CDC doesn't wanna be too "authoritarian."

If it's not this strain of bird flu, there'll be another respiratory virus in the near future. The entire mechanism for doing something about a pandemic has pretty much been dismantled.

Yup. Can't ignore an ignore an ongoing pandemic without undermining your response to future pandemics.

The lesson libs learned from the last pandemic is absolutely going to be not trying to impose any restrictions on people so they don't lose the support of DeusVaultPatriot88

Capital forcing people to work through a pandemic with a high mortality rate is really gonna kneecap their ability to steal money from labor, as I imagine it's much harder to do when all the workers are dying

Unrelated: it’s a shame Stephen King turned into such a lib. But The Stand - along with most of his early work i.e. when he was writing high as a kite - is actually very good.

I haven't re-read any of his older stuff since I was radicalized. Kinda worry it won't hold up. But if I'm ever in Maine, I'm gonna get arrested throwing copies of The Jakarta Method and Blackshirts and Reds over his fence.

read The Running Man, it's incredible

stephen king was fucked up on shitty beer and coke one night in 1980 and was like hey what if reality tv and late capitalism and socioeconomic decay and social stratification and society of the spectacle and nazi youth gangs and killing off the poor via environmental collapse and return of old epidemic diseases and slow grinding deterioration of material conditions and flying commercial jets into skyscrapers

Oh, yeah, totally. Read the Bachman Books in the 90's. That's what's so frustrating about him, is that he clearly gets something is wrong, but he's too wrapped up in the Cultural Hegemony of western mythology to not be a LIB

Lately, I've really been feeling the part where the poor people have to make DIY Nose Filters... doomer

Scratch a liberal and all that. This is clearly a direct response to leftist orgs making sure people are masking at protests.

What's more crazy about this is mask wearing on the subway is actually pretty common. A solid 10% of people still wear masks on the trains every day. It's not weird, and literally nobody in New York thinks "omg this person next to me is a criminal with a mask." Dems just gotta Dem I guess.

Bold of you to assume that a NY governor has ever stepped foot in NYC for more than 20 minutes, let alone ever used the subway.

    masking: banned

lockdowns: non existent and would get very vocal pushback now

number of anti vaxxers: at an all time high

hell ya the next pandemic is going to fucking kill us

Nothing has made me more certain that we aren't going to pull out of this nosedive then seeing what liberal opposition really means by living in upstate new york.

I'm legitimately starting to hope a republican wins just to show liberals their is a limit to just how fucking useless they can be while still expecting support.

I'm from upstate so a republican would probablly try to divert money from the city to here to own thenlibs, I vote dem in local elections so our local public school doesn't get shut down bit it is legitimately becoming difficult to come up with a single reason to try to carry water for these worse than useless sacks of shit.

Also that's the same group that was refusing to wear a mask, refusing to top gathering in large groups, and refusing to stay at home and not vacation to my town during the pandemic.

Nothing like not seeing your friends or family for 4 months because you havent left the house because the closest hospital is 50 miles away and then on your biweekly trip to the store to stock up on groceries theirs a van full of hasids picking shit up, coughing on it and then putting it back on the shelf without a mask on.

Then you still haven't learned yet. Liberals do not react to stimuli. The Republicans will win and Liberals will just start rehabilitating them

If I didn't have standards I would consider voting Trump (or not writing in PSL because not voting is two votes for Trump) just to get democrats to pretend to care about bird flu for a few months. Could bring the country's pandemic response up from a terrible F----- all the way to a respectable F----
