    But, they weren't exploring

The Titanic wreck was already explored

They were literally just gawping at the deep sea

The Deepsea Challenger that took James Cameron to the bottom of the Marianas Trench cost $10 million

      The titan costed $350k

      They were cutting costs lol

Hey my life is on the line here, let's cut more corners.

I am glad they are dead. If they had succeeded some other people would die trying the same stunt with one of these botched submarines. At least this time it happened to the right people.

It could have been the port hole that was only rated at half the depth they were taking it. When the company that manufactured it found out how deep they were going they wanted to make a new one that was safe for that depth and the CEO said no.

Would’ve meant a much larger vessel to have the same already cramped space inside. Most of the bulk in a traditional DSV is actually flotation to counteract the weight of the little passenger sphere.

Yes. To venerate them as explorers might encourage this kind of behavior.

r/titanic is full of people like him. Lots of obsessive misery-hobbyists getting pissed at submarine memes. But what do you expect from people who treat a one-off maritime accident like it was the literal holocaust lol.

That's fucking rich coming from a mother fucker named Richard Allen Garriott de Cayeux who's claim to fame is being a fucking space tourist! The only reason I wouldn't call him a daredevil is because he went up in a Soyuz, the safest method of going to space yet devised!
