Ironically enough 10 or 20 years ago no one would have noticed anything problematic or political about these games, because back then the frothingfash Outrage Machine hadn't yet been pumping out endless culture war propaganda bullshit about the Woke Mind Virus™.

I've known a few people who kept pushing through diminishing emotional returns on things they used to like, and that shit's bleak. I can't speak for this anti-woke Steam user, but they did all either:

        • learn how to tell when they aren't enjoying something anymore and try to find things they do enjoy, or

        • find something to blame for their diminishing enjoyment, as their minds steadily putrify

The usual chud victim fetish, except even more than usual, he knows nothing's going to happen because the Steam forums are a cesspool that might as well be unmoderated.

20 years ago? MOTHER 3 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, famously apolitical

Notably, CRASH was a real thing. The real version's general venality was the subject of the 1997 Rampart scandal.

I'm not gonna call Rockstar North masters of analysis or commentary then or now, so this stuff wasn't exactly something you had to dig deep to learn about at the time

I feel like there's some hefty overlap between the gamergate crowd and the people eternally mad at nintendo for never localizing Mother 3

and exactly zero self-awareness about it

Lol I do the opposite and it's so hard to find lgbt games, especially lgbt games that aren't centered around white people.

I wish I lived in the world these chuds think we're in.

Looking forward to Coral Island completing though.

Not to gatekeep, garbage people can like what I like, but I think this person is probably lying about liking the first one.

I can't quite articulate why, except that a) Oxenfree is basically a walking sim and those are generally not popular with the gamergate crowd b) the playbook of pretending you're a long-time fan of the new culture war target is really played out c) they admit to doing it before d) Netflix=woke is kind of a tell too.

He writes "it's about teenage people and relationships," so I think it's even more likely that he's asking if there are any LGB or gasp T characters in the game. Not that he isn't also a racist! I'm sure he is, and now that I think about it, he might also be worried about interracial relationships in the game as well.

I think the Wokeness should be more normalized with a disclaimer at the start of the movie, informing the viewers that they should make no assumption of what genitals the characters may have been born with or without.

Simply reply to people like that with "No, this isn't made for people like you, nothing ever will be ever again, so you should just stop interacting with videogames/tv shows/movies/comics, and perhaps pick up woodworking or some other hobbies that aren't susceptible to containing social commentary/messages"

Could end up ridding ourselves of them from the gaming/etc community.
