the thing is, i do pop tarts horizontally sometimes. its easy. you turn the toaster off and get your fingertips a little wet and then you get can it out without being burnt - works exactly the same if you have to touch say, a hot pan or someshit. i've been doing that since i was like 10, how does this guy exist
anyway, billionaires are the smartest people alive and capitalism breeds innovation ig
Also, you can just you know, wait, because metal is more conductive than carbon, and therefore loses heat faster. Something you would think someone with a physics degree would know, although clearly his materials sciences skills are incredibly poor.
If the toaster slots are wide enough, you can get your fingertips around the outer edges, too, but I could just have really long freak hands. Silicone tongs are also an option, but probably overkill.

On my toaster you can just push the lever up far enough to grab anything comfortably
Do you not just push the thing up quickly enough that the pop tart flies out the top?
This is my method. If you do it hard enough, you can catch both of them in one pinch.
I usually microwave for 30 seconds though because pop tarts are one of the few things where it doesn't make a noticeable difference.
That's also the secret to the "putting out a lit candle with your fingers" trick, you lick your fingertips first.

lol I just use chopsticks to retrieve toaster items most of the time anyways
