it really isn’t difficult for me at all, and it does a little bit to stop me from participating in at least some suffering. Sort of like BDS, my participation probably doesn’t mean all that much in the grand scheme, but it does a little bit and helps me feel better about my place in the world.
This is why I do it as well. It's probably a drop in the bucket, but a lot of drops can fill a bucket. Similarly to an organized general strike, an organized movement of veganism can hit animal exploiters where it hurts. It's also good to start living the life that might come after a revolution, in a sense that once certain policies were put in place you would already have been living that way and could help others go through the transition (sorry if that sounds LARPy, I've been writing the essay and a lot of it is about education and alienation relating to these kinds of movements and changes).
No that makes sense. Be the person you’d want to be after things change is interesting, hadn’t thought about that. It’s easy to get lost in the daily struggle and lose sight I think.
