Got my haircut for the first time since transitioning with a local queer barber. They said my hair was beautiful and gave me tips to take care of my curls. This is so sweet, as I am a bit uncomfortable with the thin hair around my scalp.
That sounds awesome and really nice of them to say ^^
I didn't feel safe to go anywhere to get my hair done before so I taught myself how to cut my own hair.
I find it is more making sure it's all the same length, which is harder when your hair is like super curly and thick (literally looks like spaniels ears when cut lol)
It does suck though when I'd like it styled a bit or something..
It is so difficult for me to cut my own hair, as it is so curly. Can be difficult to get it to lay properly if I cut it myself. Definitely can be done, though.
Big ones were when applying conditioner in the shower, ‘massage’ the conditioner in from the root out to the tip until you feel the texture of the hair curls become more pliant. After, airdry is best whether or not you use product in your hair, and you can use a towel or a cotton shirt to dry, but to not vigorously rub the towel into your hair to dry, as this can break your hair.
easy to slip up sometimes though, I'm sure they'd understand..
Ah nice, I pretty much do this. I usually just pat my hair with a cotton towel to let it air dry. We also currently use coconut and jojoba shampoo though we'll probably get some oils too on your recommendation before c:

Yup, been cutting my own hair or enlisting my wife for years now. It's getting more difficult now that it's getting longer.
Sucks not being able to go have it done

okay but every time i see someone with this hair it is the cutest thing
Must admit I like it, love how it sits all springy with the curls too. Why I keep cutting my hair shorter when it gets too long so I get that look lol
Good thing I have hair just like that!
