I think the thought process is that Trump will definitely win now no matter who runs against him, so it's better to let Joe go down to defeat than getting the stink of loserdom on any other Democrat who could've taken his place. They're throwing in the towel and letting Biden lose, which says a lot about their seriousness about "the most important election in our lifetimes."

Yeah...I don't know how libs keep letting dems slide with such obvious bullshit. That's pretty much the only logical reason to not try and do SOMETHING drastic now

Bingo. Trump's fist pump in the air sealed the deal. Every Democrat is now going to coax Biden into eating that giant L on election day while preparing for 2028.

It's really something that Mr. Let's Do an adventure-time very likely has ensured the very thing he was trying to prevent.

          Isn't it ironic? Don't ya think? It's like RAY-E-AAAAAAIN

The shit is that if Sanders either got the nomination or grew a pair of balls big enough so he would run as an independent, he would beat both in a landslide

The strategy is "we don't have to remove him ourselves if some chud decides to retaliate"

A candidate that makes people sad when he speaks and can barely read a teleprompter vs. A charismatic liar who just raised a fist in the air in defiance in front of the flag after getting shot.

If Biden wants to win he should be implementing his new progressive 100 day plan before the election instead of lying about doing something after.

my read is the establishment wants a "Goldilocks" level of excitement and interest in politics at a given time. not too hot, not too cool.

nobody wanting to vote for anybody was a bit too cool. not enough donations, antipathy to commercials. disinterest isn't distracting enough. biden decaying on live TV gave things a shot in the arm as conspiracy narratives and contested convention with possibilities swirling, but the excitement was still contained.

somebody taking a shot at a presumed nominee was the porridge bubbling over. can't be having public violence against that class, gotta pull the pot off the stove and get it back under control.

don't want to ruin the big dinner or for the house to burn down.

This checks out. Anyone worth their salt will understand the basics of how to keep the peace.

        Anyone worth their salt

If the Dems and their media outlets drop the "trump is a threat to democracy" pitch now it's going to remove the last of my sanity

"Concerns about Biden's debate performance faded"

No they didn't. The media has moved on to a new spectacle. These people think that if the media isn't reporting it, then people aren't thinking about it.

lol Biden is going to do everything in his power so he doesn't get arrested and executed at Gitmo when Trump wins in november and declares himself king of the usa.

Biden did Ukraine stuff while VP, too, so there's a perfect avenue for prosecution that bypasses the recent crowning of the president by the SC

But he’ll still get arrested and executed anyway.

Good news for the Tankie Caucus. Not voting for Biden is no longer a vote for Trump since Democrats will be doing that on everyone’s behalf

They know they won't beat trump now, so why would they spend power and risk to push a new candidate?
