Early on in the war I heard the BBC talking about how the Russians use airstrikes, artillery and drones and they called it a "cold, calculating, impersonal way of fighting war" and I wanted to scream.

It's impressive that they're still running with the fascist talking point of Russian hordes like the old Soviet hordes.
I love how they're trying to frame it as if the Russian army is just discovering how tactics work. I guess they need to pivot away from the Asiatic hordes narrative somehow. 😂
They did the same thing in WWII, the Soviets would find which portions of the Axis lines were manned by Italians or Romanians and concentrate their attack there.
Keeping a relatively high percentage of troops in reserve so they could be redeployed to exploit weak points was a core part of soviet doctrine. When all you have to do to identify a weak point is look at their flag it makes things a lot easier.
