What exactly do they mean be tracking link?
It's just a YouTube link, right?
On Firefox, right-clicking a link in the search bar will have the option "Copy without site tracking", selecting it will auto-remove the trackers in the url
Is there a way to make this the default for copying a URL?
Basically, the link has a part at the end that doesn't do anything on the end of the user but lets the site keep track of which users came from the link you took. You can remove it and the only difference is that the site won't know they came because you shared something with them.
Thank you!
Which part of the link? (So I can delete it)
Edit: nvrmind I see the culprit part now and have edited it. YouTube ain't getting ad revenue off me.
Unless it's YouTube.com/watch?v=... That's important info
the end part tells youtube that everyone who clicked on that link came because dirt_owl shared it with them. It lets youtube group users together and suggest content based on common interests.
I like the link bots, but I hate the format of them posting comments. I wish the Hexbear UI would just auto add private links after your original link. Like auto add stuff after the link: youtube [private 1] [private 2].
Then it could also easily update links when one of the proxy sites goes down.
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
(what follows is an individualized solution to a related problem, and I think your suggestion is a good one, but you can turn off seeing bot replies in your settings)
I really wish they would add the title of the video or other useful information other than just spam a bunch of links
