No mention of Trayvon Martin?
I feel like that was the real first wave of police brutality protests of that time, the Mike Brown protests seemed to utilize the structure and energy that were left from the Trayvon Martin wave. Or am I misremembering that?
If you want to trace it back, the first major police brutality caught and spread on social media was Oscar Grant in 2009.
Oh, of course, yes, Oscar Grant. He was at the tail end so he counts, definitely, but I meant more of the 2010 decade, BLM-era.
I think that was kind of the rehearsal but Trayvon Martin kicked off the BLM era and the subsequent ones after him, like Brown.
