      It's like a knife maker trying to make a knife so sharp that it can cut the sky open at this point.

      I'm not saying true artificial sapience is impossible as much as LLMs, no matter how large and how environmentally destructive, are like the sky-cutting knife being seen as a way into space compared to, say, a rocket.
