What do you guys think would happen now if a situation like the one in the Soviet Union where they got a false incoming nuke alert would occur now, like the US getting a false incoming Chinese ICBM reading?
Would they immediately send their nukes without any second thought, or how would this play out?

      Inshallah.

Probably not though. I don't think any other country has a nuclear policy as psychotic as the US does, and from what I recall the reason no one has ever launched before is all the false alarms have been one nuke on the screen, instead of thousands. And a first strike would be hundreds or thousands of nukes, with some held back for second-strike purposes.

I honestly think it wouldn't happen. It takes multiple people to decide to launch the nukes, and just like in that example, I feel like at least one of them somewhere along the way would say, "no, we're not doing that"

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but hey. gotta believe in humans to some extent.

The Air Force had to come up with a "Jesus loves nukes" slide show because during the cold War, they found out that their predominately Christian personnel were actually having qualms about ending millions of human lives.

        So, have hope.
