What was the main reasoning of the Chapo vs hexbear naming debacle? To get away from the pod or to not meme el Chapo and glorify drugs? I was lurking then but more focused on the funnis than paying attention to drama...
Pretty sure it was this one. I will never forget that one user said we should have renamed the website to Lib dot Rehab. I think at the time most people kinda tired of the podcast and the people that didn't even knew there was a podcast were confused by the website name.
still never seen a reason for why hexbear of all things was chosen lol, it actually did come back to bite the site in the ass a little tiny bit because it shares a name with cryptocurrency so its dns banned in China
Pretty sure Hexbear always was the Chapochat Mascot. And yeah, it's pretty funny theres a cyptocoin with this name. Once a youtuber came here, I think it was internet etiquette guy (Internet Comment Etiquette with Erik, I believe) and he basically joked saying that we were trying to sell him cypto.
