When we had downvotes and users got banned for downvoting trans comrades was funny.
Some guy on here his boss Dave found the site and we all clowned on Dave for the day.
No the funny one was the guy who insisted that he would downvote any pinned post regardless of topic and would continue doing so on principle even if he got banned for doing on transpositivity posts
That guy making a hundred alt accounts to whine about his god-given right to downvote stickied threads is probably the only reason I that I still remember being here for the downvote bans.
Here's the dave stuff https://hexbear.net/post/107136
That's amazing, as a new bear I haven't seen that one, holy shit
This is amazing.
I started wheezing from laughing too much at the second time shitbird got dave to look at ppb.
Yes the whole thing was very odd. I assume they're still here under another username

Black Mold Futures and his weird rants about insect eating and other stuff, and his 100 alts

Minnesota Dan Livestream (The really weird early Gen X that was far-right and hated anything that came out after 1999) (Also know as the "Back in the day I used to go to 4chan dot php because every website was php. I knew 4chan blew in 2003! 2003! You hear me?!" guy) (AKA Painbow)

Giggle (TERF social media app that would force you to take pictures of your vagina to use it) vs. Hexbear. Sall Grover (the owner of the APP) promised to go live on Australian TV to talk about Hexbear but she didn't.
It was always weird to me how people took classic BMF posting. Maybe I'm just too situationism-pilled, but I largely found myself understanding/agreeing with the points they were hitting. Very distinctive rhetorical style, but not at all the incoherent foaming implied in most off handed mentions of their corpus.
BMF would usually include at least one link and assume the reader engaged with the source. This filters a lot of people.
I think it all happened some months before you created your account back in 2021 lol. The guy wanted to debate some Hexbear user on twitch but then we all went there and begun spamming him with "Can't Corner the Dorner" memes since this guy was like very anti-change and hated BLM.
I actually know a few Gen Xers who are quite cool but they are mostly libs except for the one who came out as trans
I can't believe I missed giggle v hexbear, that had to have been incredible.
There are still some posts here. She got really pissed at an user named Comradebongwater for whatever reason, and wanted to sue him. Even though pretty sure they were American and were protected by free speech lol. She deleted all the tweets about it.
CW: Suicide and Guns
People sent her a bunch of "Lol, Die Terf" memes from that Anime girl that is from that zombie anime. AKA and Grover from sesame street killing himself which got her really anger.
Then someone made a bit account pretending to be her here, at that time Hexbear dot net still was Chapochat and we used to hang around Cytube to watch Godzilla movies at 2:00 AM, and this bit account was like very cartoony and evil. Pretty funny tbh.
To get away from the pod
Pretty sure it was this one. I will never forget that one user said we should have renamed the website to Lib dot Rehab. I think at the time most people kinda tired of the podcast and the people that didn't even knew there was a podcast were confused by the website name.
Pretty sure Hexbear always was the Chapochat Mascot. And yeah, it's pretty funny theres a cyptocoin with this name. Once a youtuber came here, I think it was internet etiquette guy (Internet Comment Etiquette with Erik, I believe) and he basically joked saying that we were trying to sell him cypto.
I think some hexbear user got drunk and spent the night spamming the youtuber's email or something lmao.
Does anyone have a link to the infared account getting clowned on? I can't believe I missed that one
I believe it was called Infared, but it was deleted from the modlog a long time ago. I think this was a bit before he got popular and before Maga Communism. He would spend the day getting angry at people who smoked weed and spamming his yt channel and livestreams

I think NPR is doing a podcast on it actually. They reached out to interview me but I just said PPB over and over and over
The whole shrekland Dave affair was excellent
https://hexbear.net/post/107217
Shrekland.net, and I'm pretty sure shit bird was also the one who bought lemmygrad.net too lmao
Holy shit I forgot about this and am sitting here laughing my ass off all over again lol. Legendary posting
Even if it was just a bit, it's one of the funniest things I've seen here
will have to write about what I can when I get home, so watch this space, I’ll prob write it in a different reply, not under this
VCJ doesn’t get brought up because it effectively ended in a stalemate and there’s a sort of gentleman’s agreement not to agitate the wound after the fallout caused a group of sitemods (including me, initially, partly because I was overwhelmed and in high school at the time) to quit or temp-quit the site.
You were in high school then? I had your age guessed off by like 15 years.
Bush still had a year or so left in his last term when I was that age.
I hate that the most memed on LS thread is the one where they were the most correct; pursuing teenagers in your late 20s is fucking gross.
Its also strange. I'm 26 now and cannot imagine even being close friends with a 19 year old. We'd have nothing in common. I don't wanna talk about moistcritical or whatever streamer garbage drama is happening. I just don't care.
The focus on age of consent in the comments is also weird. My area has a 16 age of consent but few people would argue it'd be normal to fuck a high schooler.
I never minded liberalsocialist but yeah for some reason there was a lot of antagonism towards them. I think probably because they'd constantly enter threads and just not know what they were talking about, and because they explicitly identified as a "liberal." A lot of people also thought the whole account was a bit.
WAIT. Was LiberalSocialist really a liberal ? I honestly wasnt sure if it was a bit either tbh. Maybe just a younger person.
I mean they called themself liberalsocialist. So I was just assuming
I made a comm for this, and there are a few things posted on there, but it never really took off
Doing write ups on struggle sessions tends to restart the struggle session and would probably get mod action for shitstirring
It's not explicitly forbidden or anything, and I would personally find it very funny to see someone (not me) attempt a neutral write up on the VCJ debacle
Any volunteers?
There was an informal rule for a long time that mods would remove the comments and possibly ban (if you kept doing it) any comments relitigating it. And any comments about what happened tended to cause relitigation
One surviving 18-months-later post from one of the /c/vegan mods who quit (not a neutral write-up, but since the thread wasn't locked / removed and is one of the top all-time posts on /c/vegan I hope it's okay to link)
This was a post-mortem, from someone who had originally left the site during the struggle session, so it's a weird thread in that the post is from someone with still-raw wounds and the comments are from people who had experienced the evolution of the site since that time.
I definitely couldn't do a neutral write up but I can drop a few points that I think are often overlooked. I've been on hexbear since before the vegan comm existed (on other accounts) so while I haven't always been the most active, I've seen the whole history.
One key point is that hexbear vegans weren't content before VCJ joined. We already had the sense that hexbear was anti-vegan but we were quieter about it. Example (EDIT: fixed link).
There was already a strong cultural overlap between c/vegan and r/vegancirclejerk before the lifeboating. For example, dog diet crossed over here, and was to my memory the precursor to the VCJ hostilities. (c/dogdiet comm request, negative reaction to dogdiet posting).
But I just noticed who I'm replying to so idk why I'm even bothering.

Yeah I hate that guy he's too beautiful and noble
!bestofhexbear@hexbear.net might have some but could probably use more writeups
- silver legion
- Kerry posting
- dox of beatnik
- unreleased 9-11 footage guy
- dasha from Red scare posting (or maybe that was in the discord?)
unreleased 9-11 footage guy
That was so weird. What was his username again?
Surprised no one has mentioned two Hexbear legends:
-
BMF: He is everything I want to be when I grow up (nonsectarian tho)
-
The Fred Flinstone freakout over lattes or something.
Fred Flinstone being mad about pumpkin spice lattes was peak surreal comedy
BMF: He is everything I want to be when I grow up (nonsectarian tho)
After their death, attempts are made to convert them into harmless icons, to canonize them, so to say, and to hallow their names to a certain extent for the “consolation” of the oppressed classes and with the object of duping the latter, while at the same time robbing the revolutionary theory of its substance, blunting its revolutionary edge and vulgarizing it.
(I am kind of joking, but I do feel like the sectarianism was kind of inherent to bmf-posting)
Holy shit lol that is a baffling meltdown. I like how the third comment from the top would just be "removed removed removed" if the idiot knew how to spell slurs properly.
I cannot imagine being that buttmad over anything and I've been pretty buttmad

I once caused an argument in the mod team by posting my thighs. The post stayed up, i see that as an absolute win.
I remember we had someone who would downvote every megathread who got banned which turned into a big argument.
Idk why I'm struggling to remember any big events.. early days of this site was wild but my memories are distant
