Dude saw a "I studied the Blade" meme 10 years ago and has been shitting himself in fear ever since. His entire political career has been devoted to this one thing.

Well, that and destroying the Labour Party...

What the fuck is wrong with Bri*ish people and sharp objects? A nation where sixty million people are all too irresponsible and immature to be trusted with scissors remains incomphrenesible to me.

But how will malls stay open if dumb teenagers can't buy swords?

That's already illegal in the UK. The current moral panic is about wall hanger crap being exchanged via, like, facebook marketplace, or ebay, etc.

Steal a tire, roll it up to the top of a hill, and try to ramp it over the wall and into your dickhead neighbour's rhubarb patch.

Urb-ex, I think this is mostly a post-industrial thing. Whole lotta dilapidated buildings in town to fuck around in. There was a local rite of passage that involved breaking into an abandoned bomb shelter.

Buy a pistol-grip crossbow from a sketchy man at a game faire and shoot cans up in the woods.

The possibilities are endless, as long as you leg it before the cops show up.

This is the one weapon-related thing more sysyphean than trying to get rid of all guns, because at least bashing together a black powder piece requires some tools, materials and knowledge. A knife is so stupidly simple that nature makes them by accident. What's next, a crackdown on clubs?

I've tried explaining to Americans many times that this is what is necessary, at minimum, to "stop mass shootings" in the usa. You will be shocked to hear that none of them understood a single thing I was trying to convey, either about the scope of the problem or the incredible violence necessary to solve it.

It won't help, the real problem lies in incredible alienation and intense competion in the American society. Even successful "gun hunt" would just shift "mass shootings" into "mass stabbings".

I doubt half the people who commit mass shootings have the physical prowess to pull off a single stabbing

Exactly. People are delusional to compare knives to guns. The number of fatalities would be significantly reduced if people only had access to knives.

I agree. America will find ways to perpetuate it's violence until it is dismantled. Modern people have forgotten how terrible are the spear and sword.

Maybe it's like conservatives here in the US who think cities are just 24/7 Grand Theft Auto crime sprees with shootouts between MS-13 and Venezuelan special forces sent to spy on the US. Except in the UK, they think London is overrun by cyberpunk yakuza gangs that have elaborate sword fights whilst riding motorcycles.
