A drawing that he supposedly made:

Show

I wonder if he actually drew this as a kid or he, as the manchild he is, just doodled this up to post on twitter. Don't know which is worse.

I watched David Cameron's Titanic like 50 times and knew almost every scene by heart.

But doesn't know the film well enough to know it wasn't directed by an ex-primeminister famous for fucking a severed pig's head.

A kid, especially a young kid, being obsessed with something doesn't mean you're the king of neurodivergence. Some kids get preoccupied with things.

Note how he says that his mum got him tested but he doesn't mention any results?

Last of all, I'm sick to death of people claiming they're autistic and therefore that means they have the R-word pass:

    1. How are you using that term in a reclamatory fashion, Drew?

    2. How do you, a person who has never been diagnosed with an intellectual disability, have a right to argue for reclamation over a term that is not yours to claim?

This tweet is dripping in ableism. If you want to argue that it's actually lateral ableism, whatever. He chose to go public with this stuff and he deserves a call out rather than a call in as far as I'm concerned.

I used to work at a place where several of us were pretty close would go out to bars and shows and stuff. One friend of mine told me about how he asked another friend of ours if a third friend was autistic and he legit said "oh yeah she draws real good".

Imagine coming up with a whole identity just because you can't stop using a bigoted slur.

Look, I'm autistic as fuck and I was even able to correct my language from growing up in an extremely bigoted household. It took actual effort on my part, but I did it. This "reclaiming it" bit is just bullshit. Dude just wants to be edgy. Does he use any other expletives or is he just a 90s kid?

Also no one fucking says "I was basically the GOAT of being on the spectrum as a kid." Like wtf even is that?

This is kind of the issue with self-diagnosis. You get people like this who cynically use it to do stupid shit. It often comes across as insulting how they’ll list every stereotypical trait in exaggerated fashion.

I’ve heard some queer people try to “reclaim” the f-slur but that doesn’t seem to have really caught on.

self diagnosis is a can of worms and if i remember correctly weve had mutliple struggle sessions over it here.

I think this is a problem with the “cynically use” part more-so than the “self-diagnosis” part. I know you didn’t say all self-diagnosis was bad, but I wanted to share a bit about mine. My self-diagnosis helped me:

      • come to terms with using sensory aids in public
      • connect with other people who struggle with alexithymia
      • explain a lot of social alienation and confusion from my childhood
      • give my therapist better direction for tools to teach me

I would have been happy to get a formal diagnosis, but the only person who does adult autism diagnoses within a 2 hour drive of me charges $2k for the privilege and doesn’t accept insurance. All the resources around here are for autistic children. On one hand, I was happy that my son had so many resources. On the other, it makes me wish that I’d had this revelation a lot sooner.

I’ve heard some queer people try to “reclaim” the f-slur but that doesn’t seem to have really caught on.

Oslo's own gay choir is actually named after a bilingual pun on the f-slur, Oslo fаgottkor"bassoon-choir" are so mainstream and uncontroversial that they've performed patriotic music with the Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces.

I've also seen the slogan "These F####ts Kill Fascists" a few times, most famously there's that picture of those TQILA people...

Edit: So apparently even the three-letter version of the slur is removed by Hexbear's slur filter. That's maybe not ideal. Apologies to anyone using a screenreader for any convenience caused by replacing a letter with a Cyrillic lookalike.

    hate that first paragraph

it's always these cishet white liberals who have never had to seriously deal with being called slurs n shit and then they'll use their neurodivergence as a shield to just use the r slur

"progressive and liberating" way my ass, 99% sure he just means he'll call you the r slur and just say it's "reclamation"

Here's all the reasons you're not allowed to be mad at me.

Why are you still mad at me, do you not believe my reasons? I told you you're not permitted to be mad at me sooooo.... Could you stop it?

Hearsay from someone that I met who worked adjacent to his university (think slightly off campus hospitality venue) is that basically everyone there found him insufferable to the point where the only people that tolerated him were the Young Liberals, who were extremely desperate for membership but youths were generally Labor/Greens/Misc leftists or just completely disengaged from politics to focus on drinking. So ofc he just absorbed the smug right wing youth energy and turned it into his entire personality.

Third option this guy saved this scrapbook for 20+ years and busted it out to take a picture of to post on twitter to try to prove a point.

What that point was I cannot fathom. Then again I would probably have scrapbooks from 20 years ago if I hadn't lost everything I owned in a fire because I lived in a granny unit with 80 year old wiring and a faulty Xbox cord and/or fusebox. Anyway that was my personal 9/11

Only drawing I miss from that period of my life was a sketch of the grim reaper I still think was really fuckin good but I don't think I would have posted it now for any other reason than saying America deserved 9/11
