Feels like a post like this happens every day, and I'll just keep linking the Zizek video.

“The problem isn’t some idiot in power giving you money. Take the money! But take it without the moralistic feeling of guilt. The next day kill him and if he says ‘but I gave you money,’ tell him ‘you idiot why did you give me the money?’” - Zizek

unless you are in a managerial class position you’re fine, you can be a Marxist and not be poor. Just be class conscious and side with the exploited over the exploiters

Jesus Christ I hate this self flagellation mind set. Class consciousness does not mean you need to live like an ascetic! You’re consciousness of your privilege is the first step and what it means is that you have more power than most to help organize and co-ordinate. Find your local union organizers and lend a hand! Donate to bail funds and other left projects! All that shit is really important too and you have the stability and resources to help. You’re only a class traitor if you aren’t helping however you can! All of us would like to live how you are living but that doesn’t mean we’re jealous or you should feel bad for getting to live in a way that everyone should be able to in an equitable society.

This. „You call yourself a socialist yet you make money“ is some twitter egg bullshit, you don’t need to say it about yourself. It’s Bernie’s 3 houses all over again.

I agree that self flagellation mind set is bad, but sadly I do often fall into the trap myself.

I've thought about this, I'm on track to potentially make decent money (if I don't succumb to laziness depression that is). I think the top things one can do is promote unionizing and leftist politics at the workplace, at whatever capacity possible without losing your job. If that's not an option, I think the idea of being a socialist sugardaddy is good too, to mutual aid projects and political projects, while also staying as updated as possible in whatever socialist organization matches your tendency.

If anything, it puts you in a better place to help people. Since you wont have to be panicking about rent or taking a second job you can put more time and effort into helping others. As long as you still care about other people and want to do good, you're fine. Just being well off doesn't suddenly stop you from being a leftist.

Yeah I was about to say. We need people like you, to a degree. How can people join the fight if they're constantly worrying about feeding themselves, housing themselves, having enough to survive; you can help those people. You are put in a wonderful position to be able to help others with gofundmes, giving money to homeless people you see, etc. Honestly I do aspire to be mildly "wealthy" one day just so I am able to help others who are not in a position to get or seek help.

Engels was wealthy, Castro and Guevara came from well off families. Do not feel bad for surviving into a comfortable way in this shit ass system.

As long as you continue to support the cause you’re good. We need people from all drives of life to make the change we all desire.

Find organizations in your neighborhood and donate time and money to them. Easy as that. You can still be useful to the revolution. There are a ridiculous amount of real solid leftist organizations in Chicago depending on your flavor so get at them

I've seen right wing arguments against chomsky (not debating his politics but I think the man is deserving of respect by all on the left) saying that he had like a million dollars. So I don't think it's on you for surviving in a system forced on you that you despise. As long as you don't sacrifice your ethics id say good for you

We need people like you who have their shit together. You'll find ways to do what you can. Don't sweat it comrade. The fact that you feel bad about it means you're one of us.

Class traitors are present on both sides. Many many socialist leaders have bourgeois roots.

Use your power for evil. Leave Marxist literature in the sauna. Subtly inculcate your lifting partner in the union mineset. Steal the towels.
