not gatekeeping, just saying that mostly everyone here is pro china
you've completely lost me, why the fuck would i call you a liberal? this place has literally always had a tankie lean, there was even a strawpoll that had like 70% of respondents as mls

swear words arent hostility. fucking libs and their civility, i swear
idk if your being genuine or not, but if you are, there's this guy called bayarea415 and he has a video on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. It helped me a lot in learning why China is the way it is right now and why we should support it. Yeah, it's not a Socratic conversation leading to a synthesis capable of universal application, but it's probably more productive than arguing here.
theres no point in being a socialist if youre going to dismiss most actually existing socialist states as illegitimate/bad.
i can only speak for myself.
theres a lot to criticize when it comes to china, they're selling duterte weapons, there is still a lot of corruption, etc. its fine to discuss that. but the core of a lot of china "struggle sessions" at least, to people that defend it, is that it IS a socialist state and it IS better for socialists, and theres no point in critiquing it when the person youre discussing it with is outright dismissing its worth/viability as a socialist state. and more often than not, the criticisms are based in western propaganda or western chauvanism.
its not really "worshipping the state"
The fundamental flaw in all this always revolves around "Who watches the watchers?" And historically, the answer has never been optimistic.
Socialism is just a system. At the end of the day, you have to have faith that the controlling party are themselves divested of personal gain or ambition and that they will be true to the system. It's the ultimate "tautology" as you say, faith in a faithless, materialist system.
I'm hoping to high hell that the current CCP regime doesn't get drunk off the fumes of the capitalism that's propelled them to new heights and can exert enough humility to give the working class the keys to the city.
It’s turtles all the way down, except it’s actually struggle sessions.
Look feel free to start another struggle session. Defend Jonestown or something. That’ll get spicy. Hell, we’re due for a Shining Path struggle sesh too.
