Reactionaries stealing something black people invented to describe a real problem and then twisting it into horrid bullshit isn't new I guess.

Literally had a boomer today try to out me as a "Karen" for mildly disagreeing with him. I literally wasn't even being combative.

I have a headache. I am so tired of these adult children. Reactionary boomers are something else.

How do you deal with these kind of fucks that want to make a fucking scene over minor bullshit that doesn't even matter? Holy hell these people are exhausting.

am also infuriated how “karen” went from ‘white woman weaponising societal special treatment to racistly endanger black men that are simply like birdwatching’ to ‘unliked person seen as female’ but similarly exhausted with no idea how to best deal
    agony-deep

Like when it got to "Any white woman trying to use her privilege to force those they perceive as lessers to do something the white woman wants" I was like "I hope this is where it ends".

But I knew it wouldn't end there, because all memes are basically cancer.

Reactionaries stealing something black people invented ... then twisting it into horrid bullshit

Name a more iconic duo. I'll wait.

"Karen" used to be a very specific type of white wealthy woman but has totally morphed into just another way for chuds to say "I hate women!"

Literally me with my dad. It's hell.

But yeah, just like with "woke" chuds have co-opted the term and turned it to their bad ends.

I'm so glad that in general, my dad is pro-labour movements, as he was a unionized factory worker all his life. He isn't tuned into all that BS culture war nonsense, so the only thing remaining is just normal boomer-isms.

Yeah quite sad how it transitioned from "Karen the demanding customer" to "Karen the uppity service worker"

I thought it was supposed to be what white women who call the cops on any black person (including kids for example) were being called, such as for example that woman who called the cops on kids selling (lemonade?) cause they didn't have a license or something.

Do we just go back to calling them assholes? I did always enjoy the "actually i take that back at least an asshole serves a purpose"

I will stop using karen but in my social group we've used it to describe masculine presenting people who are rude to customer service too.

One more layer of liberal "if my intentions are good my actions are ok" removed!

I think reactionary boomers are not worth engaging with as soon as they unveil themselves. Their brains don't function at all.

This is true when you have the choice, but sometimes you have to work with these people, or they're at family meetings (assuming you are fine with most of the family), or they spontaneously hatecrime you on the train out of fucking nowhere. Not engaging with reactionaries is a good idea in general, but if that's achievable in practice varies a lot. I try to decenter straight people, men, boomers etc. in my life as much as possible and spend a lot of time in my comfy woke bubbles, and it does me a lot of good, but there's limits to how far i can realistically take that.

I knew it was over when I saw a Jeep with a giant OK KAREN decal on the front windshield. I'd bet anything that the stupid man who owns that truck is shitty to service workers.

PS I feel bad for people who just happen to be named Karen but are perfectly nice people

personally i treat them as their actions dictate. "if you're going to throw a tantrum then i'm not going to engage with you. i'm not a babysitter. come back when you can be an adult."

but you don't live somewhere you can carry a gun so maybe choose a less confrontational method ig

I don't like the term because it has turned into a euphemism for the slurs similar to itchy scalp and Goodwill Hunting. I've noticed a lot of Karen shit is substituting for more offensive wording, but the intent remains the same.

They tried to start up a version for bad men "Ken" but it really never caught on so they ended up going with "Male Karen."

Which is just... there's layers to this stupid cake and I hate every layer.

Karen is still mostly reserved for white women. Rarely seen it used for nonwhite women

Yes but it's being used against white women whos only crime is being a woman instead of against white women who are racist

Try to defuse, end the interaction and try to move on perhaps? Defuse for one’s own sake and a tool to end the interaction sooner, but not to cede the point to a reactionary boomer.
