I'm not American, so maybe I don't know, but how could anyone think of these little fellas as pests? They're cute!
They look pretty scraggly when they get older and will dig up your lawn... To eat ticks, slugs, and other actual pests. Idgaf about the holes in my lawn, the indigenous outdoor cat can stay.
Let's start a brushtail-possum--Virginia-opossum student exchange program!
This is the first time I'm noticing your possums don't have an initial O.
I love them. 🥹 They're like cat-rats, two of my favorite animals combined.
ShowThey can get into your garbage. I think that's the only reason people consider them pests. They're not as as clever, determined, nor aggressive as raccoons though. If you feed a Raccoon, it will spread the word around town, and within a month you'll be like that lady who called 911 because 100 raccoons were stalking her. I've never seen more than a couple opossums together at the same time.

Cutest little friendly gremlin-animals. Reminder as always, they can't (almost/effectively never) get rabies, they love eating ticks, and they are North America's only marsupial
I love how the kids ride around on mom's back like she's a city bus.
Agreed, and since they're marsupials some might even be in the pouch!
Opossums just stare at you with their mouth open and hiss, from what I've seen.
possums are so cute and chill. They are literally the only wild animal I can walk up to and pet. Though I don't do it too often, because I am not sure how comfortable/scared the possum is in that situation.
He probably wanted a place to smoke a cigarette. They are remarkably chill for a wild animal.
