I expect a complete apology, a clearing of my name and censure against my attacker and abuser. Those involved shamed themselves with their actions. You have an opportunity to make amends and undo that injustice you’ve inflicted.

I run a large ML forum with weekly views of tens of thousands and I recognise exactly the temptations you’ve allowed yourselves to succumb to of abusing your power for a false sense of righteousness based on petty bullying and unfair treatment. I know that I’m not the only one who’s been a victim of this on lemmygrad.

The contributors to this forum deserve better moderation and better judgement from the admins in general. The current process of banning people without right of reply is abusive and dishonourable. That can be a separate discussion.

People talk about the excesses of the Cultural Revolution and how it was wrong for people to be punished with extreme public humiliation for relatively minor infractions. To that I say, clearly there is an inherent human instinct to humiliate oneself, because how else do you explain people doing these kinds of hilarious antics?

I'd rather take the sophist decentering of truth over Platonism though. Platonism and it's consequences have been so corrosive, allowing pretending to access to an ordering truth that this allows for systemic oppression (e.g. man is in the image of God therefore superior logics).

We can never escape the sophists because unfortunately their radical critique of truth in language is the case. You can always make evil seem like good and vise versa (never mind good and evil are rhetorically - and materially - determined concepts). Thus there's no shame in "fighting dirty" as it were or, even more aptly, using force instead of rhetoric when necessary.

Edit: tl;dr: who cares who wins debates when you have a ban hammer.

I'm one paragraph in and yeah, lemme just trust someone whose prose reads like the obvious scheming court advisor in someone's first DND game.

Isn't LarkinDePark the person who thought Latin-transliterated Bengali was 'bad' English?

Also, she's already been banned now, so it's okay to dunk on her

This was a very strange thing for someone to do. Larkin could've just said nothing and been chill, instead they did this whole anime villain rant about how they've been unjustly banned for two whole weeks. and went all Phoenix Wright in the comments, arguing with people and claiming everyone was "lying" because they just took the most bad faith interpretation of everyone else's words they could.

Especially considering how patient the mods were with them when just posting this screed alone is probably worth a ban, instead the mods allowed a unilateral community decision to ban them. Such mod overreach!

Look I am the regent of crashing out on motherfuckers and even I had to sit here and raise an eyebrow like... I'd understand it if the plague rat struggle session somehow got reheated and people still be stuck in their ways; but... If I got a translation of some ish wrong and still crashed out over it, I'd want someone that's actually in community with me to 'ey, chill; you're on the wrong end of the stick here'-- which it seemed like that's what was happening until Lark doubled down.

A shame. I thought her more on the level than what the modlog would imply. If it's meant to be, she'll be back under a new name chilled the fuck out. ...I mean, it's either that or the THERMONUCLEAR ending.

God damn those are long posts.

I don't know. They definitely seem pretentious and generally hyperbolic, but I don't know if we should start posting people from Grad. I usually think of us all on sibling instances and I would hate to see fighting. And there are some with alts on both instances too, so may lead to some friendly fire.

This is a special case for the grad. Most people who get banned just move on, but this person decided to chuck a tantrum for everyone to see.

    Everybody sucks here.

I'm not gonna read 14,000 words of internet drama because I'm not a loser, but he says he was called racist because of a misreading, which is exactly the sort of thing that'd happen in places like these. Then it probably spiralled out of control.

    Death to liberals.

Why are you assuming they were called racist for no reason if you havent even read it?

If you dont wanna read thats fine.

Also can you give me an example of people being randomly called racists on Lemmygrad

Omash, if I called you a benchod or a putang inang aso, would you consider that 'bad' English, by virtue of me using latin alphabet, or a separate language on its own?

Look at the modlog of LarkinDePark, to see what I mean
