It's an endorsement of one of only two candidates. You don't have to allow it to define or conflict with your ideology, you just say words, and hope it affects people in swing states.
It doesn't mean she can't criticise him once he gets in office. It also allows more proactive candidates to have a slight sway.
It's likely actual climate action will probably mean looting and destroying coal plants using crowds of comrades, but having a pres that won't mobilise CHUDS to kill climate protesters is a slight win that was enabled by a climate activist saying some words in an interview.
How can we best defeat climate change? In an environment dictated by Trump/Republicans or Biden/Democrats?
"Both suck" Yeah, obviously, thanks Doomer, but say we're about to do any actual practical strategies without the help of the GOV, it's best to increase your chances of success by not enabling MAGA deathsquads patrolling coal plants.
You're not voting because it doesn't align with your values? Yeah, duh, you vote for the closest ideologically. But also, you're falling into Lib territory. Votes don't define you. It's just one piece of paper. None of your doomer friends will know, you're just giving the slightest advantage to your cause for free.
t's true, they might not be swayed left. But you reckon 4 more years of Trump enabling toxic misinformation, radicalising violent fuckheads and stopping any change on a local level is going to help?
If you're in NY or LA, vote for Green or nothing, no worries. But if you're in a swing state, not voting isn't going to own Biden and make him and the DNC realise they should've gone further left. You aren't enabling a new generation of the left, you're allowing the autocrats to take over and further reign death.
Sorry dude, you're in a fucked up system, here in Aus we can vote for and endorse third party candidates and it actually affect the balance of power in parliament/senate, but you're in US, where it's one or the other (unless you're voting in primaries, local and state elections)
Just on a cynical PR side, it's prob better for her career to promote the candidate that also superficially supports climate action.
Endorsing a third party candidate for pres in US is basically a doomer move which is so lame and counterproductive as a climate activist.
I'm in Aus, very often our major decisions come down to random third party candidates, despite "only two parties" doomer shit.
Can't recommend preferential voting enough.
