This unlocked a memory of my father driving through neighborhoods with my brother and I looking for political signs he didn't like (don't remember for who, but he's a right wing shitbag, so take a guess) and telling us to run into their yard and take them. My brother got chased off by one of them and thinking back on it, that was incredibly dangerous, cowardly, and pathetic of him (my dad, mostly) to do. Who gives a shit about dumbass yard signs. Fucking hate that guy

      Politics can make people insane.

The only real effect of those signs is to signal which type of insufferable dork lives there. Rolling with classic halloween decorations on the other hand projects great virility and the ability to throw an enjoyable barbeque

There's a little cottage industry among philosophers of making versions of those "In this house" signs that feature all the weird arcane bullshit positions that philosophers have about weird inscrutable issues that professional philosophers care about and customizing them to whatever brain-melting combination of things the particular individual believes. That is 10,000 times less cringe than having an election sign. I'd rather have a yard sign that says "in this house we deny the analytic / synthetic distinction" than an election sign any day of the week.

I had a Beto sign and a local candidate sign in my yard a few years ago and then someone drove by and took pictures of my goddamn house. No more fucking yard signs for me!

So many obnoxious Kamala signs in my town, I actually let out a breath of relief when I saw a lawn with Trump signs. At least that person is upfront with their hatred.

It’s like if half our country was flying a Ukraine flag and the other half was flying Azov Battalion signs and they squabbled with each other over whether it was good optics to applaud SS veterans publicly yet

You get them in return for a campaign donation exceeding a certain amount, and then the self-important voters love to let all of their neighbors know about it. Not sure that their affect on election results could be isolated but my gut says they don't do shit compared to the constant pummeling of advertisements and whatever news source people are hooked in to

The political sign war is a perfect encapsulation of how incredibly not serious America is lol

The dorks in the reddit-logo comments are all arguing about how many years of jail that kid should get lol

That's uhhh 50 separate counts of theft and trespassing, with a 1 year maximum sentence for each count nerd

I just found out that the biggest Lib I know is doing this to Trump signs.

OMFG who has the spare time for this? This person has young kids at home. Red or blue MAGA is warped.

      lmao

This is a perfect example of how China and TikTok are a threat to the US. China controls TikTok and can promote a "trend" of stealing Harris/Walz signs so that idiot kids will do that and indirectly favor Trump. They literally have a horde of moron kids who will do anything that is put in front of them if it's framed correctly.

This is why I sincerely believe genocide is our immediate future. These people think that their side can do no wrong and their "enemies" have no value.

I think I saw almost exactly this take from Lemmyverse liberals raging against pronoun preferences today. libbing-out
