🤓 ackshually the Forgotten Realms setting as imagined by its creator is very horny and very gay, smh I thought gamers wanted accurate representation of the source material

Trying to read this makes my brain hurt. By "I gave it in" are they saying they accepted the gay orc's sexual advances? And then they go complain online about it, which seems weird.

Am I even reading this correctly?

I think they meant “I gave up [trying to like the game]” but the heart cannot help but speak

oh yeah reactionaries were fuming over the additions Beamdog made to the enhanced editions of Baldur's Gate I and II

what's weird is that the original itself never cared about making women look like fashion models, they did pretty well with making your companions look like actual people, you can scroll through some portraits here to get an idea

the original game also had an item called Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity which swapped the gender of the person that wore it (but didn't change their voice, sorry, still need to do voice training) which, if it were added in a game today would make reactionaries fume about the wokes

I love the aesthethics so much and seeing how close they are to actual real people make me love them even more; more studios should take this route, it's great

I could see it be a cool crowdfunding reward, but the kind of g@mers with money to burn are probably all nightmares to work with.

This is probably talking about the Enhanced Editions of the original games done by Beamdog. Tl;dr they're good.

They added a few companions, including an edgelord Blackguard orc, Dorn. The new characters can feel a little xbox360 Bioware in a classic Bioware game, so it's understandable if some people don't like them, but they're perfectly fine. You can easily ignore them after their initial introductions in the game.

There's also a few queer romance options added in the EEs, Dorn being one of them. You have to click the "yes, I want to have gay sex with the handsome wizard edgelord knight" button.

G@mers also got mad about the new Beamdog created expansion that's set between BG1 and BG2 because it has a cleric vendor that explains her name if you ask her about it.

      spoiler

      She's flag-trans-pride

But this is from a series where the incel wizard has a quest where he accidentally changed himself into a woman and has gender dysphoria
