There's being critical and holding representatives to task, and then there's just being a useful idiot to a power-hungry group who is more than happy to enflame your grievances in support of their ascension.

The popularity of fascism and socialism both rise when liberal democracy faces a crisis and its contradictions become apparent to the people. If in response to this socialist ally with the liberals to stop the fascist, they will cease to a credible alternative (no matter how 'critically' they do it). This leaves fascism as the only movement offering a believable change from the status quo. This is not good for anyone but the fascists.

Let me try to reframe this from a selfish perspective (not necessarily an indictment of this community): I'm trying to get the fuck out of the US. I'm still not sure where to go, and I for sure don't have the money to do it. I feel my chances to a. accumulate the funds, b. use the delay to plot my escape, and c. possibly have the ability to leave the country, especially based on my politics, affiliations, search history (I was sooooooo paranoid when Covid hit and they shut down air travel that we were all toast) are better served without the GOP occupying all three branches of govt
