EM POC ONLY!!!
This is home for me.
I love all of my comrades on c/em_poc, but I wanna especially give a huge shoutout to @sweet_pecan@hexbear.net for doing a lot to help me keep my composure. I don't know if they quite realize how much I appreciate them!
Each and every single one of you makes me feel less alone through these struggles, though.
I hope all of you are well!
to the people who mostly hang in the megathreads, why?
I got into the habit of kind of journaling in the general mega as a way to just share some of my thoughts and feelings on the things going on in my life. And over time there's a few other frequent posters who's posts I've been reading for a while.
And as others have mentioned, the news mega is a good place to get news (lol) because all the other places I have access to news are mostly shit, whether they be mainstream or independent.
The news mega is why I had reactivated my hexbear account in the first place. The more active userbase means that you get near realtime information about various things.
The other parts of the site, is fine sometimes, but it becomes very clear you are surrounded by Amerikans. Even if they are self-conscious about it.
And another thing I never missed about Reddit or Twitter was the constant struggle sessions. Most of my political education comes offline now, and I intend to keep it that way.
I like the news mega the most because it helps me understand the world a bit better, there's a lot of informative posts... but the world also sucks so I often start there, end up getting angry and upset at the news, and log off before I can interact with the rest of the site.
whitey scawy
There's 1,000-something comments in each one and I dunno how you keep track of anything like that. Not to mention, shit posting and reading shitposts already makes me feel a bit guilty since that time could have been spent reading theory.
My face just turns into:
o___o
....when I see the megas.
Its easy when you are the one that posts them
I guess it just feels a bit like a chronological xitter feed, but way better. And it's comfy to hang out in them and chat to people. I guess it's more for downtime, if I was in reading theory mode I might be on news mega, but probably not on hb at all haha. I do venture outside the megas too, but they're the first thing I usually check
Which theory are you reading?
Revolutionary Suicide by Huey Newton and vol. 1 of Kapital. Also have Naked Lunch by William S. Burrows and Sum by David Eagleman for fiction. Been skimming through Lies My Teacher Told Me on my phone (since I have a copy there).
I should get in on the Will to Change group since it's free and only like 100 pages.
Oh shit, that's some stuff, lad...
How about you? Anything good?
Uh, let's see here, I've read some basic ML reading list stuff, like "The State et Revolution", "Principles of Communism", "Socialism: Utopian and Scientific", to name a few
Besides that, "Capital Volume 1-2" fully, and I'm in the process of doing volume 3 (you can look onto c/theory)
(Ngl, I'm kinda a dummy, on Volume 2 and 3 is not doing better)
