Ahhh yes, crack addicts, a sector of the population that is famous for being treated with exceptional laxness and never hit by the full weight of the law.

Yeah the legal system is also super chill and normal with drug users when firearms are involved. It's not like even legal gun owners have to keep their weed smoking on the downlow or anything

The point of not listening to rules and norms is so you can pass actual policy, not get your dumbfuck son out of trouble.

Also, as much as I hate Trump, not even he did this kind of shit yet. Most of his nepotism pardons were for people who already served their jail time. He never did it (as far as I know) to help someone avoid jail time. Now Trump could unironically pardon his family for a crime they committed before they see a day in jail and that wouldn't even be defying the norms set by Back to Democracy Biden.

Democrats do not want actual policy passed, they just want the same "Fuck you" that Republicans get when they violate the rules. They have become in word and slightly less atrocious deeds, Blue Maga.

Getting bailed out of trouble by your rich dad is probably a more relatable experience for a lot of r/politics posters

Yeah, it just brings into sharp focus what they're NOT willing to violate norms for (anything principled). But when it affects them personally, of course they will.
