    No, it isn't. If you win you will actually be behind [minor] levers of power and that's probably what we should be focusing on right now anyway. Also I think they will pay you a fuckload of money to do it.

    Also if anyone's from the UK, the Labour left is always desperate for more candidates in most CLPs. Even in momentum controlled areas, people on the left just aren't willing to stand for election so we ended up supporting succ dem careerists in order to stop the right.

      Didn’t the trot group Militant manage to take over the Liverpool council one time and then cause a whole thing by running an illegal deficit until they got kicked out?

        Yup, not usually a fan of Trots but while Labour was shifting to neoliberalism under Kinnock, Militant actually stood up for the working class and got massive public support.
