Don't you love it when the subtitles tell you what kind of mood the music is evoking?

This is called SDH subtitles if you prefer this type of subtitle. Subtitles for Deaf and Hard of Hearing. It's made for people who have hearing disabilities.

SDH subs are good and necessary but I hate how streaming services often only have SDH. I just want subtitles for the dialogue, I don't need every sound effect and music cue annotated as I can hear those perfectly fine.

As an old, my hearing is only slightly sub-par, but I benefit a lot from these. One show I watch often has extremely quiet sounds or voices in the background that are plot-relevant, but I wouldn't hear at all.

I actually do, as there are often words I've never seen otherwise, and sounds that which previous had no words to describe.

    1. the image is not an example of your argument; the text is just factually describing what happens, using the common name of a music genre

    2. this kind of subtitling (or captioning if you're from North America) is very helpful for people with hearing issues; it helps to better understand the story

Yeah honestly whenever I see this I think it's kind of nice, like I'm glad someone is thinking about how it's not just the text that tells the story and someone who can't hear might be missing something important otherwise

I don't have hearing issues, but sometimes it can be a little difficult understanding what the music is trying to convey, especially in foreign films, so I definitely still value it tremendously. Though usually I never see these descriptive captions for foreign movies.

It's great. My partner calls out whatever very specific description they're using every time and I get a little giddy when they nail it.

i'm more of a fan of the exact artist and song name being dropped in the subs before you even hear one note of the song.

[Heartbroken Night by Xemnisz starts playing] -oh i guess it's time for an emotional montage now even though it won't cut to another scene for another two seconds
