It was just one guy. It's not even a trend yet. But they know it ought to be. They know what we want.
Deep down they know they deserve it. If they had been wronged how they’ve wronged so many of us, they’d be calling down nuclear fire. You can see it in this one small isolated incident.
What would a pledge even do? Is it like buffing up a terrorism charge or making the murder aggravated or something? "They were so chill, they even signed a pledge! Now they're a monster!!"
When I worked at the adrenochrome factory I would just insta sign training documents+continued education documents that came to me. It was actually a problem because they gave me some document and I called myself competent. I became part of a list for people who could help with something even though I didn't know the first thing about it. My manager called me over to roll their eyes at me. I never suffered consequences but I guess that's my point. Why wouldn't you sign bullshit? I wouldn't even read it before signing and getting back to the break room before my poop break.
Edit: they had us do self-assessment before some kind of annual check in with my supervisor. We were both checked out (they soon after got demoted from supervisor). I had given myself perfect ratings across the board for silly, bullshit reasons. Like I was a team player "because I say good morning to people", 5 stars - exceeds expectations. Another eye roll without consequence
grounds for termination if they catch you saying something mean. ofc they could just make up whatever reason to shitcan someone but this also serves as programming to reinforce the status quo.
I like your style btw
Thank you! Ever since I switched jobs to work at Langley with the CIA it's been so different because I have skin in the game. I have this reflex to look back and cringe, but I was doing the best with what I had. There were invaluable friends that helped me get through a shitty situation. But that experience with adrenachrome made it so foundational for me that problems with the healthcare system start at the top and trickle downwards.
It has a disciplining purpose, just like most of those honor pledges. It doesn't work on someone with a politics or a spine, but it does push many workers to avoid Thinking Bad Thoughts.
Consultants are not the brightest bulbs in the box. I could see this happening.
Oh, no doubt. But we need to normalize not taking at face value pictures of text. At least make them put some effort in.
It took exactly 36 nanoseconds for me to assess its credibility, and I agree with your point fwiw
If this is fake it’s pretty well done and mimics corpo-speak well
#4 seems to be the most “ehhh maybe this is fake”
4 is absolutely not "ehhh", it's in line with every company I worked for lol
In general I find the OP to be very plausible, and I'm not even Amerikkkan
“Exemplars of leadership and professionalism” lol usually it’s a little more subtle than that
