Thread whining about it

Original thread

Blahaj.zone is a fucking disaster. I don’t remember any user accounts from that place who comment with any sort of sanity. It’s like the lemmygrad of the LBGTQIA+.

What are we, chopped liver?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got the sense that this was Dronerights again, but I'm even happier that this whole mishegoss lead to a stronger stance on neo-pronouns and some of the worst shitheads are crying about it.

I just have no clue why the admins want to die on the hill of defending dronerights and allowing them on the instance, if that's what's happening. The simple and obvious solution is just to ban trolls like dronerights, trust the moderators that volunteer for you, and most importantly, update the pronouns policy to be more inclusive of neopronouns and ban the bigots, which is what hexbear did years ago. Better end result with much less drama. But I have a feeling that a lot of Internet admins enjoy drama and grandstanding, so that approach would be unappealing.

I gotta disagree. While my bs detector is telling me Dragon Rider is Dronerights, UmbraVivi makes a good point later in this thread, especially with the mention of Otherkins. Dragon Rider may not be acting in good faith (or maybe is, I can't say with certainty), but others like drag might in the future. I think Blahaj is doing the best thing right now.

EDIT: Plus, if you and my bs detector are right, then Dragon Rider will end up doing with Dronerights did: engage in clear rule-breaking behavior that results in a ban anyways.

You see that's where I disagree: if the admins are foolish enough to let an obvious troll like dronerights on the instance, they'll be allowed to engage in rule breaking behaviour without getting banned. Apparently the dragon user has already been banned from a few communities by moderators for rule breaking behaviour, but the admins are still allowing them on the instance. I think that you are vastly overestimating the Blahaj.zone admins competence, they have come up with some wild stuff over the years, people of NATO was just one of the highlights.

Just look at this modlog of the dragon user. Apparently they have a history of "misgendering and encouraging suicide", yet they're still allowed on the instance? Pure incompetence not to site ban them. Apparently one of the entries in the log states that a "perm ban was heavy-handed"?!?!? So they're just going to let the dragon user roam freely on the instance after all that? Incredible stuff is happening on the internet. The admin post is all about respecting pronouns, to protect a user that doesn't do that themselves according to their own modlog history. Peak irony right there. Incredible stuff from the admin team.

But if they want to set fire to their instance over supporting a troll that has been banned across Lemmy for racist behaviour and partaking in misgendering themselves, including on here, that's none of our business really. We as an instance have also made some really boneheaded decisions over the years.
