They used to have the clown thing. Then people started pretending to be afraid of clowns.
Like what's to be afraid of with clowns. It's just a dude with makeup. Absolute lib shit if you are afraid of clowns.
I had an actual scary experience with a clown, and I still think that being afraid of clowns is lib shit.
When I was 3, a busking clown who was on a tall unicycle told my dad to toss me up to him. My dad pretended that he was going to, and did a fake toss. I was and still am afraid of heights, plus I thought that the clown was going to keep me. I'd just started retaining memories a few days earlier, so this was a big one.
The clown was going to put you through a portal to a dimension where we had fully realized communism.
I think I'm too big for my dad to throw me up to a clown, now. It's too late for me.
i guess that is a thing that happnes to monopolies. neither google or amazon or coca cola have a lot of branding.
Coca cola has a ton of branding. Didn't they invent American Santa Claus?
I mean that was in the 50s or something. Nowadays coca cola's advertisement branding is "being red" and "fun with friends"
Fair, but they still use some of that old school branding. I once went to the Coca-Cola museum in a vacation with my parents, with somewhat critical thought, and it was so weird how they were flaunting their insanely large cultural impact. I guess most Americans see that and look at it as a success story, but it was pretty mind blowing for my young self to see how corporate and consumerist American culture is.
I can't think of a single fast food place around here other than A&W (the theme of orange and brown) and Subway cause it looks like Subway. The rest are pretty much all the same.
I went to Costco for the first time in my adult life last week, and I had a similar feeling. I don't know whether they're all like this, but it was completely characterless.
Costco definitely leans in to the utilitarian warehouse vibes, which I dont mind
Yeah I actually like that about them. Aside from the samples, it doesn't feel like they're trying to manipulate me or sell me shit I don't want. It's a big building full of stuff that I might want. It's on me to go find what I'm looking for and fuck off. Nothing special about it.
