this post reminds me that i love dealing with computer parts and wish i could do a decent, non-stressful living from it :sadness:

Have you made sure the CPU power cable is connected properly?
I've once spent an hour wondering why everything else was lighting up and spinning but it not POSTing, only to realise i hadn't pushed the 4pin in all the way
        Felt like a right tit

Just in case you haven't already, you did try to unplug all the other hardware and remove the ram and try booting it? If you haven't, plug one thing in at a time starting with video card if no onboard one. See what it does, if it boots into CMOs fine then plug in each component one at a time and reboot it, if fine, then HD, then one stick of ram at a time then anything else.

Sorry if you already did/knew all this, just throwing it out there

The first computer you ever build will make you more frustrated than anything.

Yeah it gets easier. It took me an entire day to build my first computer. The second one was built in an evening. The next in three hours. Now my record is one hour. I got lucky that I had a few friends that all wanted to get into PC gaming. These days I don't even play games but I still love tinkering with computers.

Is your power supply switched on? Is your RAM fully seated? Is the power from PSU to MB fully pushed in?

    This sucks:(

you can check mb/cpu pins for damage if you’re gonna disassemble everything anyway. Also check that eps(?) 8 pin cable connection on to top of the motherboard is the right one from psu. Oh, and case speaker can tell you something, if you have it.

Hopefully you won't need to RMA anything, but the problem could be in any number of places so it will probably take a while to be sure. The first time I built one, it took my dad and I like 20 minutes to realize we forgot to connect the auxiliary 8-pin connector to the motherboard
