Someone else has already commented on how tankies got their name. Tankies in the comments can usually be recognized by:
Anything a liberal democratic country does is bad. Authoritarian regimes like China, Venezuela, Russia, North Korea, etc. are somehow the good guys, regardless of how well-documented their human rights transgressions are. Tankies defend Russia's invasion of Ukraine, for example. Because tankies want to present some atrocious regimes and people as the good guys, they have to distort the truth a lot.
They constantly lie and misrepresent/omit facts to promote their false narrative. Since they're not interested in real discussion or non-Tankian points of view, they employ unconstructive discussion techniques to score points and “win” arguments. And that last point is the main reason everyone hates them.
Mind if I check my lib-brained understanding of the Ukraine war?
NATO was inexorably pushing to have Ukraine join their club--which would represent an objective strategic nightmare for Russia--and Russia was negotiating alternatives with Ukraine. US got called in for our expertise at fucking up the peaceful relations of other nations. US did something to halt peaceful discussions, NATO progressed their expansionist agenda. Russia did a pre-emptive attack on Ukraine aiming to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO by making it into a part of Russia.
NATO was inexorably pushing to have Ukraine join their club
Russia asked to join NATO at one point, that would have ruined the purpose of NATO, which is to fuck over Russia whoever is in charge
--which would represent an objective strategic nightmare for Russia--
there was an ongoing civil war in Donetsk and Luhansk involving pro-ukraine fascist militias, some of which were then made part of the Ukraine armed forces so they would have been instantly article 5'd
US did something to halt peaceful discussions
the Minsk agreements were meant to buy time for Ukraine to militarize further, as per Merkel, peace was never the goal
Russia did a pre-emptive attack on Ukraine aiming to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO by making it into a part of Russia.
yes, but also to protect the people who were under constant attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk and to disarm the Ukrainian armed forces
WHAT
lol no, we just know why it happened and how it's gonna end
I mean, I don't like Russia cause they are neoliberals but it is hard to fault the logic there.

Something like that?
