One has to laugh at the absurdity of cope required by reactionaries to handle socialism lifting billions of people out of poverty worldwide

It also counts lowered birth-rates in wartorn countries as "victims" because by it's reasoning they were potential people that were never born. Also counts soviet deaths at the hands of the Nazis as victims of communism. Also counts deaths of Nazis at the hands of the Soviets as victims of communism (which is true and also cool and good). Nazis killed by the other Allied nations do not count as "victims of capitalism" apparently.

By these standards, having high birth rates should count as negative deaths right? So basically Niger has mastered the art of necromancy.

I'm not sure if the Black Book does but there is a website for the victims of communism that you can search and it does. It's pretty hilarious, too, when you start reading the reports. Like a CIA agent goes to a nation to consult during a communist uprising and gets in a car accident with some random person and dies and it gets blamed on communism.

Communist regimes have been responsible for the death of more than 100 million worldwide, according to global experts.1 The final human toll of the current pandemic cannot yet be determined, but those who have perished and will perish from the novel coronavirus must be included in that count—victims of the Chinese Communist Party and its willful disregard for both human life and its own international legal obligations.

I love how "according to experts" can mean anything from actual trustworthy and legit scientists or experts in other fields to absolute hacks to even straight up CIA agents/ops.

I'm glad they do shit like this, because any person that's not insane will see this and call it bullshit. Makes it a lot easier arguing the shit that happened before we were born when you can point to the same exact people making up the same lies 100 years on.

The Black Book doesn't exist to inform anyone, it exists so reactionaries and capitalist apologists can point at an actually published book and say "SEE THE STATISTICS?!"

That said, damn it really is unfortunate that Communism turned US Troops into Serial Murderrapists.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the book could literally just have "pee pee poo poo doo doo caca" printed out for 600 pages and no one would bother opening it, they'd all just cite muh 100 gorillion from the back cover.

      Also,

That said, damn it really is unfortunate that Communism turned US Troops into Serial Murderrapists.

Show some respect for the troops. Rapist-American is the preferred nomenclature.

Anyone who has read the Black Book and still believes any of its claims is either stupid, coping, brainwashed, lying, or all of the above.

Yeah the publisher basically told them to get to 100 million deaths no matter how absurd. That's why this is in there, along with roughly 5 million literal nazis killed on the battlefield.

Basically all the co-authors pointed out the manipulation. They were more or less consulted and their research was used for the book and they contributed but apparently the main author really did some leg work to twist it all into contributing it to be "victims" in many cases where the co-authors who did the research did not think that was appropriate at all (which is fair). So after the book was released they all distanced themselves from it. It's a clusterfuck.

      page 564

      Fucking PDF isn't searchable, but

To the 100,000 who have died in Party purges and the 1.5 million deaths in concentration camps must be added at least 1.3 million deaths stemming from the war, which was organized and instigated by the Communists, a war that continues in small but murderous actions, including commando attacks on the South and acts of terrorism; and the uncertain but growing number of direct and indirect victims of malnutrition. Even if we content ourselves with a figure of 500,000 victims of the primary or even secondary effects of malnutrition (including the usual, unverifiable rumors of cannibalism), we end up with an overall figure of more than 3 million victims in a country of 23 million inhabitants that has lived under Communism for fifty years.

When you know it's obviously made up, but you want to throw inflammatory misinformation out there anyway.

Wait, shit, that's the Korean war. They count both, lol.

        Anyway, page 4:

        U.S.S.R.: 20 million deaths
        China: 65 million deaths
        Vietnam: 1 million deaths
        North Korea: 2 million deaths
        Cambodia: 2 million deaths
        Eastern Europe: 1 million deaths
        Latin America: 150,000 deaths
        Africa: 1.7 million deaths
        Afghanistan: 1.5 million deaths
The international Communist movement and Communist parties not in power: about 10,000 deaths

As far as I can tell there is absolutely no attempt whatsoever to justify the Vietnam figures in the chapter on Vietnam, so the implication must be that they're counting all the deaths from the war (unless they're really saying there were 1,000,000 "boat people killed by pirates.")

Also notice the Korea numbers don't match.

I'm not reading any more of this bullshit.
