The player takes control of a white guy with light brown hair, blue eyes and permanent stubble called John Grizzled. He is your average American middle-class Joe with a mansion, supermodel housewife and a weirdly emotionally mature child that never cries and shits itself like a real kid.
One day, a scary thug breaks into his house to rob the place and kills Johns wife in front of him for no reason because hes a thief and they just like doing bad things for no reason other than to be bad. He also steals Johns kid.
Then zombies happen at the exact same time and John has to now navigate a post-apocalyptic world full of zombies to find his kid and avenge his wife. He becomes hardened and grizzled and really good at guns despite being a normal average guy with no formal training.
Oh, there will be some gameplay in there somewhere, some QTEs now and again or some shit.
Also, every character will played by hollywood actors, which their game models will also be made to look like. All clothing worn by the protagonist will have Supreme logos on them due to our new brand deal.

OK, hear me out: the game is set in the not too distant future where Russia, North Korea and China have formed an alliance with a suitably evil name, like ”The Enclave” or something. At the end of the first act, a bomb explodes after John finds his wife and kid and the screen turns all white. The surprise twist is that The Enclave has decided to launch a full-scale invasion.
When John wakes up, he finds himself in a gulag prison outside Washington DC, and he has to singlehandedly escape to brave the ruined city of DC, now overwhelmed by the hordes of both Enclave soldiers and zombies (not racist to say that btw), to rescue the president's daughter from a concentration camp.
Also, we've just decided the game is now a live service with loot mechanics and microtransactions.
I like how the game is called Jack Grizzled, but the main character is actually called John. This is the kind of subversion of expectations we need in today's AAA games.
His name changes from Jack to John several times during the game
Every time anyone mentions his name changing from Jack to John he uses the same quippy retort: "When the world gives you lemons, sometimes you just have to Jack off to your John". The edgy 13 year olds buying this game will love it
Twist for the end of the game: you meet someone named Jack Grizzled, who is the mastermind behind getting John to become the revenge warrior that he is. This is the jack that is actually the titular character. That sets up Jack Grizzled 2, where John and Jack work together to defeat the zombie boss
Just say that he was in the navy. That basically means that he can do anything. Also he needs to be a whiny unemployed millennial who is juggling eight gig jobs while always trying (and failing) to get more. And he’s into football so he can be relatable. As well as a token minority friend who repeatedly reminds him that he is not racist even though he actually is.
along the way you will encounter new characters such as Whit Supremo, a man who is trying to build a new, better society out of the rubble of the apocalypse.

Except most of your choices get railroaded into one of the big story tracks no matter how many inconsistencies it causes.
