after a week or two i just gave up and stopped going to the discord. dozens of channels with so many messages per minute was overwhelming to say the least
Discord probably works if you're a zoomer, but my old and slow Gen-X brain did not handle that shit well.
Discord is okay even if it's moderately active but you can still read through a convo faster than it's happening to catch up
I've been in the Discord before the ban but I didn't rejoin because it's just way too many fuckin people
Yeah I mostly gave up and only checked a few channels.
Yeah smaller channels where you could go to bed and still follow the conversation that happened whilst you were asleep. In general if you miss 2 minutes you've missed 10 conversations.
fucking stahp it. I was bereft.
How do we gather back up the wild geese? Gotta run a psyop on every network to get the old sub back together here. Only another 130,000 to get back to where we were.
The first few hours of the discord were also fucking hilarious though. God that was the worst thing I'd ever seen.
Finally we can have well structured arguments that don't arise because of misunderstandings but because of actual ideological disagreements
now I can get my memes in post and comment and image format, as God intended
discord is great for small to medium sized communities, but absolutely atrocious for anything larger.
Even then, sometimes I missed the types of conversations you would have on the forums of old even with the more personal sized communities.
glad to have chapo chat
Ugh, I hate discord/slack/etc so much for that reason. I'm glad there's an actual website again
I have to say I much prefer this reddit like type with collapsible seperate comment sub-threads so to speak.
To me typical forums have the same problems big discords have, everybody is constantly talking over each other and it is hard to follow seperate discussions on a topic.Yeah, I hate having posts be 99% a quote from the person you are responded to and then a one word response
