There could be a legitimately good movie made about a black man or woman fighting the CIA over them pumping drugs into black communities.
But naaaahhhh... we need a movie about a black superhero who's buddies with a CIA agent. That's much better...
Citations Needed did a great episode on the topic of how the Pentagon and Intelligence community influence Hollywood. It is excellent, give it a listen, if you haven't already.
Even if you just throw out the real world political context of how terrible it is that they have Martin Freeman's character in Black Panther be a CIA agent, that character's role in the movie points to a bigger problem of Marvel Studios' persistence in screwing over the television writers and actors. Coulson would have been a great fit for that part, without all the baggage, if they had just had the sense to cross over with Agents of SHIELD at any point in the five years leading up to the movie.
