What the fuck kind of brunch do people eat in the US? I thought all the jokes about brunch libs were about people eating eggs, sausage, hash browns and the like, or maybe pancakes.

It's eggs and sausage n shit, but like. Wrong. It's a "cage free poached egg atop sautéed red potatoes and shallots with house made truffle aoli. " Then your drink is a "mimosa made with house squeezed oranges and napa valley brut."

At the risk of sounding out-of-touch, isn't brunch just 'breakfast but you eat it later in the day'? Like, you have a full English or whatever, but at 10:30am?

No not exactly, its more a combination of breakfast food and lunch food between the hours of 10 and 12. So a restaurant will have like pancakes, eggs, sausage, etc. BUT also like burgers and fries, sandwiches, charcuterie, etc.

In the U.S., brunch is less about eating normal food and more about eating petit bougie food that most people would never bother to make for breakfast like eggs benedict and mimosas and what have you

This screams 'so fancy I won't eat whole eggs'---where's your eggwhite omelete, Daniel?
