Heard a lot of good stuff, and I’m kinda into the story. I like the little cute vignettes, I wanna see how things play out. But man, there really isn’t much game there. It’s just running around the same four screens over and over so far. Does it open up more? I’m up to section three, after the harvest festival. I wanna see it through but it’s kinda dragging. Not living up to the hype so far.
I think the most gameplay you'll get out of night in the woods is that roguelike minigame in Mae's computer, lol.
I kinda forced myself to play through the middle portion of the game, but I still think it was worth it, there are some really memorable moments. Also, try not to miss out on some of the optional stuff, I think the ending might feel really out of place otherwise.
Heh, I guess I’ll keep on truckin then. I don’t mind the format, I just find it very odd that they chose to just have you go around the same four or five screens every day, talking to the same ten people.
I've always played it with a friend or two, we assign each other character roles and read them out loud. It makes the game way more engaging. And the choice to have you just continuously do the same things every day is a deliberate one. The story wouldn't really work any other way.
Yeh, the demontower game on the laptop is pretty fun.
I’m not against this style of game in general, I enjoyed Oxenfree, I liked Firewatch, I’ve played a lot of these visual novel/walking simulator things over the years. I’m sure I’ll finish this too, hoping the story stays interesting. It feels like the “mystery” aspect of the story is finally picking up steam, that should be cool.
there are a bunch of little things to explore in the town, search all the nooks and crannies, and exhaust all the dialogue.
It doesn't open up or anything but the last few hours were worth it to me tbh
I was also close to dropping the game. It drags just a little bit too long imo
I just finished it, the ending is good but yeh, I was hitting the “next dialogue box” button pretty hard by the end. I wouldn’t mind seeing the other branch of friendship hangs with Gregg, but I don’t really see myself committing to another few hours of running slowly through the town. Decent game, interesting story, but I’d heard great things.
Yeah, nothing keeps happening and there's little tension, and what little traction it manages to pick grinds to a halt whenever you're up against a dream sequence or something. It's legit an issue with pacing.
