I love how everyone's like "it takes 5 minutes to vote" as if voting doesn't require you to leave your job, drive to a polling place, wait in line, probably some other bullshit because you forgot to do some paperwork, etc. And then at the end you're more likely to have your vote discarded or get arrested for not voting at the correct school gym than you are to actually see material changes in your life.
Even if you didn't have to do any of that bullshit, waiting in line can, and has in THIS ELECTION, take hours on its own
Yeah the argument really only works in states where mail-in voting is prevalent. In those case, voting is as simple as taking 5 minutes to bubble in and walking 10 feet to drop it off in the mail box.
Yeah. If people actually cared about the civic ritual of voting, everyone would be demanding to adopt Oregon's methods.
If it takes five minutes to vote you live in a state that's been decided years before the election even starts. When I voted it only took me a minute and I didn't have to wait in line, but I live in Illinois, a state which will go blue in 2024 regardless of who is on the ticket. All those red states that they poured absurd amounts of money into in the hopes of flipping, no one is voting in five minutes in those places.
My line was an hour long for the general. For the primary it was me and 2 other people.
Virgil won that debate as he wins every debate. Sorry libs but Virgil is undefeated in the battlefield of ideas.
Lol a consequentialist should be well fucking aware of how inconsequential a single vote is in a national election with the electoral college as it is.
It says virgils wrong choppy right, it takes 5 seconds to vote so vooooote
