Slaughterhouses are one of the easiest ways for a mass outbreak to occur, so they've had to scale back the killing significantly. Maple's Leaf's plant-based brand (LightLife) tastes like ass, so I'd wager you're correct: they're just blending their bullshit pea protein into their beef to make up for production shortages.
