under socialism all architecture will be drab, low-quality, and repetitive
Neo Andean architecture looks pretty fucking rad.

I knew about this because someone was bitching nonstop about how it was horrible and false and cultural appropiation and blah blah blah.
They look nice
as someone who has sat through city council "architecture review sessions" your local electeds want these colors
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY BUILDINGS THAT LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THAT
They all showed up during the Obama years too. Like every new building between 2008-now looks like this
under communism everyone will live in hollowed out sculptures of karl marx
Why would housing under communism use different architrcture? Assuming those materials are safe? Isn’t it just a logical extension from brutalism as a technique? Genuine question.
The materials aren't safe though. They're made of the super cheap engineered lumber that is made using a glue that dissolves in water. If you get a leak you lose massive structural integrity. Also they're stupidly flammable.
People make fun of groverhaus for being bad construction, it's all up to code. In the grimdarkness of the present, all new construction is groverhaus in every way except looks.
they're only a fire hazard during construction
once the envelope is sealed and the EIFS is installed they're less of a fire hazard than traditional construction
Huh, the more you know, to be fair to me, I was told about them being a fire hazard on a job site.
ah so it's only the working class that has to worry. the bougies can sleep soundly.
Common right wing trope that under communism everyone lives in identical concrete brutalist housing
Concrete brutalist buildings have their own drawbacks.
Honestly a lot of these buildings are ugly but I’ve also heard people say from a pure utilitarian standpoint, if they don’t cut corners or cheap out on materials too much they’re actually pretty good in the sense that they’re versatile, quick to build and generally comfortable to live in. If they actually put some thought into the aesthetics so they weren’t fucking eyesores I’d be fine with them.
Also there’s the fact they always overcharge for them, despite all the money they save on construction. I guess having modern appliances and a balcony makes you a bougie fuck.
they're ugly imo, and are usually cheaply built but expensive to live in
No you see, it's actually cool modern and pleasing architecture because they paint it pastel colors. You wouldn't get that kind of innovation without a market and I for one think it's worth half those being empty.
