Can't I just talk about how your friends deserve to die because that's just the cost of progress? At least your other friends aren't also dead, it could be worse! Why do you get so upset that I celebrate the death of people close to you? :elmofire:

I had a similar conversation with someone who was rattling off colonialist apologia about Great Britain in India. They were all, "even if you're right you don't have to be so mean about it, whatever happened to eloquence and well reasoned debate?" Mother fucker, millions of people died to preventable starvation and violent repression and you're trying to say it was justified because of rail roads or some shit - shut up and think about what you've done.

Every now and then I'll think back to the libbest thing a lib ex did. She had a conservative friend who she used as her token example of how people of all stripes could just get along. She was somewhere between Warren and Bernie but hated how angry my politics were compared to the nice red hat she knew. They had been friends for a decade and even if they disagreed they could keep it civil. About six months after she told me about that red hat and refused to listen to my criticisms of it, he was at a dinner party with her and her black best friend. He got drunk and yelled the n-word at the best friend. :surprised-pika:

    1. Everything's fine

    2. Everything's not fine (the negation)

    3. Everything's not fine and it's absurdly hilarious (the negation of the negation and emergence of a higher order.)
