I watched an ad on youtube the other day and it was basically showing the story of an asian girl with a funny sounding name who could never get people to use it correctly, and I was thinking it was a compelling story. And I was kind of aware in the back of my head like "this is an advertisement, where could this possibly be going to suck money out of me?" but I was willing to see where it went.
It was trying to sell me some crap personalized jewelry on etsy.
What kind of soulless husk of a human do you have to be to write something like that to hawk some random garbage you no doubt give not a single shit about? What the fuck is this hell we live in?
adblock hurts youtube revenue and you absolutely should get it :)
oh i use it on my PC 100% of the time, I just don't bother on mobile, especially since I only ever watch people I really really like on youtube so the pennies my ad views give them are kind of nice
This is what they took from you
Seriously it's so beautiful seeing cities that are clean and uncluttered by advertisements
I've had Adblock for so long that the other day when I used my friend's phone to show them something on youtube I was taken by surprise by just how much worse the advertising has gotten on there.
I mean, I remember thinking one skippable 30-sec advert was a pain in the ass, now they have like 3 and they're mostly unskippable. Fuck that.
You can use ad blocker with Firefox on your phone. Also Firefox has a youtube background play fix, so you can play videos in the background
weird, was that a while ago? the installation's pretty straightforward now
Advertisements are capitalist propaganda. Cut it out of your life. Get an ad blocker and Youtube Vanced for Android.
I don't understand how people tolerate drowning in ads in every facet of their lives. In The Before Times, I had to pass through Las Vegas for travel a few times and it was absolutely shocking that there were ads and billboards everywhere you looked. Like, unless you stared at the ground, you would have an ad in your field of vision. :agony-yehaw:
Say what you want about the DPRK, at least their subways aren't plastered with ads on every possible surface.
I'm trying damnit but self preservation reflexes just keep kicking in.
